We looked at the sad story of Anthony Elgindy here, but the story became even sadder yesterday with his sentencing. According to the Wall Street Jrl here, Elgindy received a sentence of 11 years. He was convicted in January of 2005 of the crimes of racketeering, conspiracy and securities fraud. The 11 year sentence he received also includes a forfeiture of 1.5 million.

I assume that your use of “sad” refers only to his family, which is being hurt by his incarceration. As for Elgindy, he is one of a handful of criminals over the decades convicted of bribing an FBI agent, in this case for providing him with inside information on government investigations so that Elgindy could trade on it. I dunno – seems like a pretty wise judge to give a well-deserved 11 year sentence for an outrageous crime.
